About us

A school for minds that love a challenge

Stamford Polytechnic is a family-owned online school founded by educators, for talented students around the world.

Who we are

Serious learning, taught with warmth

We take bright and interested students and help them reach the highest level they can. Some come to us to master school subjects early. Some come to compete in the world's leading mathematics and physics competitions. Many families homeschool with us and build a complete program around our courses.

Our students have earned places on the USA Physics Team, and they prepare with us for MATHCOUNTS, the AMC 8, 10, and 12, the USAMO, Physics Bowl, F = ma, USAPhO, COMAP, ICSC, and more.

How we teach

Our method

A great tradition

Our methodology draws on the traditions of the legendary mathematical schools, where students learn by solving beautiful, demanding problems.

Pattern recognition

We teach students to see the structure behind a problem. When they recognize the pattern, they know which method to use and why it works.

Practice that lasts

Each method is practiced many times in varied forms until it moves into long-term memory, so students can use it quickly and confidently under pressure.

Small classes

Group classes have no more than four students. Individual courses move at exactly the pace each student needs.

Our own curriculum

Our curriculum developers hold doctorates in their subjects and in education. Our curriculum is used internationally.

Competition as a sport

Much like athletes, students train to solve hard problems under time pressure, and they learn to enjoy it.

Getting started

How enrollment works

  1. Tell us about your student

Send an inquiry with your child's age, level, and goals.

  2. Meet and assess

We talk with you and, when helpful, give a short placement assessment.

  3. Choose a path

We recommend courses, a competition track, or a tailored homeschool plan.

  4. Start learning

Classes meet live online on a schedule arranged with your family.

Find the right path for your student

Tell us about your child's age, interests, and goals. We will suggest a course, a competition track, or a tailored program.
